CTV

  • Creative Direction

Solution

For CTV's Olympic coverage, the goal was to create a virtual broadcast environment that celebrated Paris as the host city while providing an elegant setting for live sports presentation.

The client required a visually authentic environment featuring iconic Parisian landmarks and architecture that could enhance storytelling without distracting from the sporting event itself.

FURY designed and delivered a fully immersive Paris-inspired broadcast environment featuring the Eiffel Tower, Parisian streets, dedicated presentation stages, and visual elements inspired by the French national identity. Every scene was crafted to balance architectural authenticity with practical broadcast functionality, giving presenters a versatile virtual studio for Olympic coverage.

The result was a sophisticated broadcast environment that connected viewers with the atmosphere of Paris while delivering a memorable and visually distinctive presentation throughout the Games.

The Challenge

The Olympics is more than a sporting event—it's a celebration of the host nation's culture.

CTV required a broadcast environment that reflected Paris without overwhelming the coverage itself. The design needed to establish a strong sense of place while remaining practical for presenters, graphics, analysis segments, and live production workflows.

The challenge was to capture the elegance of Paris while ensuring every virtual space remained functional for television broadcasting.

Our Solution

FURY designed a custom virtual environment inspired by the architectural language of Paris.

Rather than reproducing landmarks as static backgrounds, we integrated iconic locations into the overall broadcast design, allowing them to become part of the storytelling experience.

Dedicated presentation zones were created for different programme segments, while carefully positioned architectural features established visual continuity throughout the production.

To ensure presenters blended naturally into the environment, advanced masking techniques and virtual staging workflows were implemented, maintaining realistic depth and perspective from every camera angle.

Design & Technology

The production combined architectural visualization with modern broadcast workflows.

Key features included:

  • Paris-inspired architectural design

  • Integrated Eiffel Tower viewpoints

  • Dedicated presentation areas

  • Real-time environment rendering

  • Broadcast-safe lighting

  • Seamless presenter integration

  • Optimized virtual camera movement

Every asset was designed with production flexibility in mind, allowing directors to move effortlessly between wide establishing shots, presenter close-ups, analysis areas, and scenic city perspectives.

The lighting strategy mirrored the warm tones associated with Paris, creating an atmosphere that felt sophisticated while maintaining broadcast clarity.

Execution

The creative process began with extensive visual research into Parisian architecture, public spaces, and the Olympic visual identity.
The team developed an environment that balanced realism with cinematic presentation, ensuring that every broadcast angle reinforced the prestige of the event.
Virtual camera paths were carefully planned to showcase the city's landmarks while maintaining a natural broadcast rhythm.
Throughout production, the environment remained fully adaptable for different programming formats, including live analysis, interviews, highlight packages, and special presentations.

Results

The completed virtual environment gave CTV a distinctive broadcast identity throughout its Olympic overage.
Rather than relying on conventional graphics packages or static backgrounds, the production immersed viewers in a digital representation of Paris that strengthened the connection between the event and its host city.
The project demonstrated how virtual production can transform international sports broadcasting by ombining cultural storytelling with production efficiency.
