How FURY Built a Dynamic Virtual Broadcast Studio for MMTV
About MMTV
MMTV is a Kerala-based news broadcasting channel delivering news and current affairs to audiences across the region. With a strong connection to its local identity, MMTV wanted a modern broadcast environment that could reflect its regional character while providing the flexibility of virtual production.
The Requirement
MMTV approached FURY to develop two dedicated virtual environments : a Morning Studio and a News Break Studio. The studios needed to support different types of programming while allowing the production team to switch between sets seamlessly. The environments also required dynamic lighting and weather controls to create greater flexibility during live production.
Bringing Kerala Into the Virtual Studio
A key part of the project was creating a visual connection with Kerala. FURY incorporated tropical greenery, palm trees, natural surroundings and architectural elements inspired by the Kerala landscape into the virtual environments. The result combines these regional elements with contemporary broadcast architecture, creating a studio that feels both modern and rooted in MMTV's identity.
Two Studios, One Real-Time Experience
The Morning Studio features a bright, open environment with large virtual windows overlooking a Kerala-inspired landscape, creating a welcoming setting for morning programming. The News Break Studio, on the other hand, uses a stronger broadcast aesthetic with bold red and white elements, large display surfaces and a dynamic newsroom-inspired design for breaking news and updates. Both environments were designed as 360° virtual spaces, giving the production team greater flexibility with camera positioning and framing.
How FURY Built It
Using Unreal Engine and real-time environment design, FURY developed the studios as responsive virtual production environments rather than static backgrounds. Dynamic lighting and weather controls allow the visual atmosphere to be adjusted in real time, while seamless set switching enables the team to move between the Morning and News Break environments without physical set changes.
Project Highlights
The project brings together two dedicated virtual studios, Kerala-inspired environments, 360° virtual production, dynamic lighting and weather controls, seamless set switching, and a real-time broadcast workflow. Together, these elements give MMTV a flexible production environment that can adapt to different programs while maintaining a consistent visual identity.
The Result
FURY created a modern and immersive virtual broadcast solution tailored to MMTV's requirements. By combining regional identity with real-time technology, the project demonstrates how virtual production can create flexible broadcast environments without compromising visual storytelling.
